The Whole Truth

I recently finished The Whole Truth authored by David Baldacci. It made a deep impression on me. Contrary to what the title may conjure, this is more about untruth than truth. It is about hiring a perception manager, a PM, and through perception management manipulating the world, inciting international armed conflict for profit.

Why did this impress me? Because it can happen, is happening. When our journalists become mouthpieces instead of being inquiring investigators, perception management is in effect. When our politicians can say one thing today and the exact opposite next week AND 50% of the people believe them, that is perception management. When someone can throw an absolute lie into the public arena and churn it until half the population is confused as to the truth of the matter, that is perception management.

Perception management is naught but professional lying, and we hear plenty of that every time we turn on the TV. Unfortunately, it is coming from not only our "journalists" but from top elected officials. They lie about their moral behavior, lie about what they have supported and voted for, and lie about what they will support and how they will vote.

If we cannot believe our leaders, how do we decide for whom to vote? We cannot choose strictly by party because both sides lie and lie often, spinning to convince you they are on your side.

Don't you just want to beg for truth?

Tells you we live in the age of PM. Oof dah!
